How come I cant see any Avatars?? (1 Viewer)

its not a big deal, but i cant see any users' avatars.
ive checked the options and it is enabled.
is it something wrong with my comp? or has Bored disabled it?

Did you check the announcements thread?

The admins have disabled non-vital functions to speed up the board (ie keep it alive) during this high traffic season called the HSC. So, no, it's not your fault. Just wait for them to come back.

but that doesnt put strain on the servers...that is if they are linked from a site elsewhere.

hmm...i just realised, i have disabled images in sigs...bcoz it was just annoying.

Images are still displayed if they are hosted on a server outside BoS. Thus, if you are linking an attachment you will not be able to put it in your signature or post, it'll come up as a link.

Similarly, avatar functions have been disabled, so you can't delete or edit your current avatar. You can still view other people's in their profiles if you really want to (see Minai).

The reason banners and images in signatures still appear is that the "emergency actions" were implemented to save the BoS server, which is not necessarily the same as speeding up your load time. If you want to do that you could disable images in your User Control Panel (Options).
