that's pretty much textbook stuff. just search around on the net cos it's easy to find.
hominid - apes, humans
hominin - humans
^that right tele?

if you think of it that way characteristics are easier to define.

ok here ya go codename_alpha

homonids:
scientific literature has referred to the term homonid as descrbing a memer of the biological family homininae, which meant living humans and all human ancestors.
however the most modern definition of homonid has become more inclusive in its classification. it now refers to the orangutans gorrillas and chimpanzees as qwell as humans. the inculsion of thegreat apes in this gruop has made it difficult to describe distingiushing features within the group. structural similarities can be open to varying interpretations. now current biochemical technology is providing genetic data that can be interpreted for classification purposes. recent genetic research has suggested thathumans chimpanzees and gorillas are more closely related that previosuly beleived and should be included in the homonid group. humans and chimpanzees in particular are thought to share an even closer link

hominins:
the gruop that was commonly called homonids is now being called homonins in recent literature
all homonins pocewss the following three features
bipedal gait
enlarged brain
small canine teeth
