Hi!

I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the answer to a multiple choice question (12) in the 2006 HSC exam:

Link: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2006exams/pdf_doc/software_design_dev_06.pdf

It's one of those confusing algorithm questions. I have alot of trouble with these.

Anyway, the thing I can't figure out is why the answer isn't b. Like, the answer is c, but i just can't figure out why. I got b when I did it.

If someone could show me how to do it [or link me to a solution] that would be really good.

Thanks :).

When I did it, I ended up with c first time around. When you did the question, did you do a desk check? That's the best way to do these kind of questions unless you are super bright. This is the result of my deskcheck:

a | b | print
2 | 6 |
| | 6
| 4 |
| | 4
| 2 |
| | 2
| 0 |
| | 0

So reading from the print column, the answer is obviously c
