So today after a brutal lecture from my mum caused by me saying I don't care about school anymore, I've finally realised that I need to put in at least some effort to get a decent UAI.

I'm just wondering, would it be possible for me to still get a UAI of more than 85 with my latest exam results? I haven't had my Trials yet so they're not these results.

English Advanced: 65% 10/41
Chemistry: 80% 1/14
Japanese: 73% 2/5
3U Maths: 82% 2/9
4U Maths: 59% 2/5

Thanks. =]

english advanced would bring you down there.. If you got it above 80, and 4u above say 65, the scaling would be much kinder

Hey,

Well your ranks are actually not that bad. Just start making notes and revising to do better.

Also to see what your UAI would be try the SAM calculator.

GOOD LUCK

did you scale the marks before you put them in?
I thought it automatically scaled them...

I'll grab my scaled marks and try again. =]

The marks I put up in the first post were unscaled. I was going to put in the scaled ones from my report but I can't seem to find it. I'll try it later.

english: 73
chem: 87
jap: 80
3U: 90
4U: 77

i would estimate something around there
Yeah I estimated the same thing...got 90 when I put those marks in SAM. =]

Guess there's still hope for me yet. =]

Well the way you do this isn't by raw marks. It's all to do with the ranking.

And since your ranks are as follows:
10/41 Eng
1/14 (80%) Chem
2/5 (73%) Jap
2/9 (82%) 3U
2/5 (59%) 4U

You should calculate your percentile ranks for each subject.
Then, you have a rough approximation of your percentile rank for your school. Then get a percentile rank of your SCHOOL (found here:http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=162620)
Then you can calculate your rough percentile rank of your subjects.

This is just a more logical way that I used to approximate UAIs. Not official or anything =\

Because like... Of course you wouldn't put 100% percentile as chemistry or something, because there are heaps of others in the state doing chemistry =\

PM me for more info, this is as much as I'm probably allowed to say without getting banned.

You'll do fine.

The ranks you have a pretty good.

Improve your Advanced English and Mathematics Extension 1 and 2 and it will scale your UAI up a great deal.
But fail to do that, you may be scaled down by those subjects.

You are going pretty good so far! Even though your English mark may sound low, your rank is reasonable. Just keep putting the effort in and you should do pretty good. Don't give up. Good luck. :)
