Ok

My project draft is due soon, and I haven't started yet (not because i don't want to, but I picked a hard question)

I just want to ask a quick question:

For example on Augustus - would that be historiography, as in do I question historiographical issues or do I question Tacitus. In my project, there is only one main composer - there is no Suetonius, or any other historian... so would the historiographical issue be on Augustus or on Tacitus (if he was the only anicne thistorian writing on Augustus)?

If I was doing Augustus I would do the following:

I would choose three aspects of his reign (e.g. his character as one example).

I would find three ancient historians that give different views of this aspect e.g. Tacitus, Suetoniues and possibly Dio Cassius. Then I would argue why they disagreed about this apsect of his reign (assuming they do), basing it as much as possible in the context of the historians.

I hope this helps. Remember, it is all about the historians, not Augustus.
