I have my half yearly's coming up and we have a choice of essays to do i chose the one which would come from politics in the 1920's. Despite the syllabus headings i am having trouble with the concept of it all as it is very broad.

Was wondering if anyone would be able to help and give me bit of a briefing of it or a summary of some kind? Any help would be appreaciated, thanks very much!

Re: Help! politics in the USA 1920's?!?

- Domination of domestic politics by the Republican Party; a return to the 'norm' as most people would put it back then.
- Isolationism
- Economic policies of Harding, Coolidge and Hoover restricted government influence over the economy and workplace; strong but ultimately, 'superficial' prosperity in the Roaring 20s which would inevitably lead to the Great Depression. Also included high tariffs, restriction on international trade, increased production, increased debt, an increased focus on 'big business', social freedoms.
- The presidency of Herbert Hoover.
- Turmoil and confusion within political circles to deal with the onset of the Great Depression.
