Every week i am given a homework task to complete...this weeks one is alot longer than most, as its the sum up of the end of this topic...
These are the questions im having trouble with:
1a. Explain what is meant by a non-specific defence mechanism in the human body.
b. Name two non-specific defence mechanisms, and describe their role.
if anyone could help me these two questions, i would really appreciate it...
thanks

Non-specific defend against everything non-exclusively. Eg. The skin blocks out both good and bad as with inflamatory responses. This contrasts to specific defence mechanisms such as specialised white blood cells targeting specific pathogens only.

Another example would be mucus lining the epithelium of your lungs to trap pathogens, and then cilia on your epithelial cells sweep them out into the oral cavity or down the gastrointestinal tracts.
