Just go for the one with the higher UAI cutoff, I assume it's more prestigious

prestige has nothing to do with cutoffs - cutoffs are based solely on demand.
and prestige shouldn't be used when choosing a uni. :vcross:

But generally the greater demand will be for the more prestigious course, unless it's ANU or some far off Uni
And why shouldn't prestige influence choice of Uni?

because you should be going to a uni cause you want to go to that uni because it has the course which you are interested in doing ... not solely based upon presitage.

presitage = nothing. whats important is that your doing what you want to do.

of course...but if you are choosing between two uni's which offer the same course prestige is a valid factor to consider along with the uni's location, it's campus + social life etc. if it is going to help you gain employment + lead you onto your desired career path

when i chose my course and uni - presitage never came into it ... and i travel 3 hours each way to uni. as long as you like the degree and its what you want for your future, who cares what uni you go to.

Well that's the point, how do you decide between two equally liked degrees? Prestige is the answer!
