xintercept = (3, 0 )

yintercept = (0,2)

so gradient of the line = 2/-3

m1 x m2 = -1 (for perpendicular line)

2/-3 x m2 = -1

therefore, m2 = 3/2 = 1.5

Agreed. 2U gets much harder than this. This is something like year 9/10 standard.
Nope. I did 9 and 10 Advanced 5.3 and perpendicular distance was not a topic nor was it covered. Plus this is a question from a pre practice sheet before we actually start the topic.

Your question was about perpendicular lines, not perpendicular distance. It would have been covered in the Geometry topic in Year 9.

Your point being?

I was asking one question... thats all and hoping to get an answer, not opinions of wat level of maths I should take. If you dont have the decency to answer then dont tell me your opinions because thats not what I was asking for.

Telling you to drop to General wasn't advice, I said that to insult you.

IIT: Douche bags

Seriously, as far as you know this guy had a bad teacher who didn't cover perpendicular lines in year 9/10 and is learning it for the first time by himself.

You shouldn't be giving advice/insulting people when you don't know their situation.

^^^Most of the previous posters are douchebags.

Maybe revise over a textbook for this area if you don't understand it.

The basic formula for a straight line is

y= mx + b

where m is the gradient, which can be calculated as (y2-y1)divided by (x2-x1) or rise over run

b is the intercept

Then just use basic rearranging/plotting to figure out gradient.
