Hearing mixed things about paragraphing, need advice ASAP. (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

I'm doing Eng Adv and sitting HSC 2013, and am rank 2 in my school. But I've heard different things about paragraphs and am concerned for tomorrow's exam.

Doesevery new paragraph have to start with a new topic sentence? < Primary question.

I often have four or five quotes to support an "argument" of the topic, where i usually have about four arguments in an essay. This results in me having about four paragraphs, which often go for a page or two.

Can I just start a new paragraph for new quote deconstruction under the same topic sentence, or do I literally have to keep making new topic sentences every time I start a new paragraph? Or should I just keep all my quotes supporting that same argument in that paragraph?

each paragraph introduces a new subtopic to your essay topic and yes a topic sentence is recommended to summarise what you will be writing about in the paragraph. and you should put quote deconstructions under different topic sentences beacuse they are different ideas and your paragraphs will become huge.

Every paragraph must have a topic sentence.

It's up to you whether you merge multiple quotes into one paragraph or not. I usually find two quotes is a good number (per paragraph), but I know others who use more.
