next year i'm going to be doing BCom with majors in actuarial and finance under the co-op program. i was planning to do the diploma in languages alongside this course but yesterday found out that there may not be any places left in that course for next year, so i might have to wait until second year.

i was wondering if it would be possible for me to do the two 1st year courses of the diploma as my general education courses (i.e. one in semester 1, and the second one in semester 2)

the courses are: GERS1600 and GERS1601


i've heard it is not possible to do both your gen eds in the first year...is that true?

No, u can't do Gen-Ed in 1st year...the requirement for you to enrol in gen-ed is to have done 48CP (1 full year of subjects)

the accounting lady told me to do general ed yesterday if i wanted to learn jap

at UNSW, u have to do a minimum of 12CP of general education throughout ur degree, only if u do a single degree (double degree's already meet this requriement). Gen-ED are subjects that u take outside your own faculty and are usually 3CP each..im doin History of Football this summer and Cyberspace Law in 1st semester..
its supposed to "broaden ur knowledge"

Just don't turn up early and ask the lecturer what the soccer results were. I learn't the hard way!
