I am not portraying everything as so hard/impossible (velox: ur not ure sister.. she has done it all u havent yet)
..im being realistic.. noone mentioned the number of places.. stop thinking its so easy.. as well there are far more other specialty places.
u need to get in to med 1st.. i think we know lots of ppl that failed that the 1st time.. even present posters are no exception..
it is the smallest recognised medical college in australia..
300 fellows for dermo.. vs 11000 for GP vs 700 for Ophthalmology. (2005)
its 3 spots but they only filled 2 places in qld.. they didnt have enough acceptable applicants...
correctly

now lets be realistic.. most ppl do more yrs of RMO before choosing a speciality.. lik up to 4 yrs.. cos u pick and choose if u get rejected.. .. and they lik when u know more stuff lik other postgraduate degrees and
u also forget that ppl goto grad med programs or do employment.. ure assuming that they are 17 too.. when they start.. that realli only happens in WA... otherwise the mean is 18-19
the numbers will change by 2014.. cos there will be more medical graduates.. but whether we need more speciality places in dermo is another thing..
lets go with this.. dun limit ureself to just dermatology.. its NOT hard .. its just there are so many more very interesting specialities that u should look at.. and also the more u study the more experience and clinical experience ull get.. like sexual health medicine has some dermatological practices.. ..
if u look at GPs lots have OB/GYN certificates so that they could use that skill... dun limit urself..
NB... i have a personal bias against dermatology as a subject too..its dull and its uninteresting.. it puts me to sleep.
