i apologise if this question has been asked already (i haven't read any threads yet in this sub-forum), but here it is.

in the application to various universities that offer medicine (or in fact any courses that require an application), the applications forms usually have a limited and restricted number of lines on which to respond to certain questions.
do we have to stick to the space given? or, if we want to give a more comprehensive (rather than just brief) answer, can we attach extra sheets?
and does it really matter anyways? will what you write on application forms be taken into account in the actual selection process?

- Thanks in advance.

Isn't that just for UNSW? You should write whatever you feel is necessary. However dont go overboard, they dont want an essay. If you attach extra sheets, they will just be thrown out.

Its not really something other people can tell you, because its YOUR application, and ultimately its up to you what you put, and in the case of UNSW (which is the only uni i know of that asks for the CV), the CV will be used as a catalyst for questions in your interview. I.e. they have to be able to ask you about stuff, and this stuff will relate back to your CV.

The CV doesn't play a role in the selection process, but as i said it is used in the interview. So if you write "I want to do med for money," they'll probably ask you about this and you'll probably get owned. Obviously, if you have nothing to write down for extra curicular/job/sport etc, then it will harm your application when it comes to the interview (if you get one). But they aren't used to cut applicants, they're merely used as a starting point for the interviewers.

UNSW Application:
First instruction on First page:
Make your answers as succinct as possible.

It makes sense really - ~1000 applications, ~10 people to read them?

i got pwned in the unsw interview

totally lost my brain during that interview :-\
but if you're in the right state of mind the unsw interview is probably one of the easiest.

One being because the interviewers are too busy writing down your responses to see your expression, and you're hiding behind a desk hehe (so you can give the old fart the finger under the table if he's playing the bad cop)

and you can tell if they're giving you the finger under the table. It's a fundamental expression of hatred.
