Finding the square roots of a complex No. (1 Viewer)

I'm trying to find the square roots of:
(sqrt(3) +i) and I get:

+/- sqrt(2)(cis(pi/6)

although according to the answer it should be:

+/- sqrt(2)(cis(pi/12)

I pretty sure I'm right although just want to make sure, anyone here concur with my answer?

umm just one thing

whenever your given a question like sqrt(3+i) you only give the positive root, not the negative one

unless the question stated "find the square root of 3+i" then you would give both positive and negative answers

edit : oh crapz nvm i misread ur question :p ... im doing the working now


edit AGAIN : ur answer is wrong, remember to apply demoivre's thm when u get z<sup>2</sup> = 2cispi/6 ...

Ryan is correct, you're answer is wrong.

+/- sqrt(2) * (cos(pi/6) + isin(pi/6)) are the square roots of 1 + i * sqrt(3)

+/- sqrt(2) * (cos(pi/12) + isin(pi/12)) are the square roots of sqrt(3) + i

stupid stupid stupid.....
I did inverse tan of sqrt(3) instead of inverse tan of 1/sqrt(3).. Oh well it was late :)....
