They're all variations on a theme. Sure, you can find fairly disparate examples, but there is also plenty of overlap (e.g. for country and rock take a song like 'Wild Horses' by the Rolling Stones or artists like Ryan Adams, Steve Earle and The Grateful Dead).

Pirate Metal is no more than a form of Folk Metal. Both are awesome though.

I'll listen to pretty much anything really. Focus though would be on rock/metal
