Yeah the collaboration between Korea and Japan is more even now than it used to be...I was talking to some exchange students in uni and they told me that both Pocari Sweat and Calpis Water are actually Korean. Can you believe that, the two drinks that every guide book about Japan mentions aren't even Japanese!

ANYWAYS : : : : : :

where do you get your " legitimate " japanese musics from? that is, if u happen to have them.

i get mine from yesasia?
there's also a shop up in china town.. it looks kinda real, but i'm not sure, and it was selling the CDs for a high price, $30 / album, so it might be legitimate,
its in the arcade next to market city, not sure what the arcade is called, but in the front part ( entrance) of the arcade, there's a shoe-shop, where they sell these fancy sandals and shoes, ( hence the name). well, the shop is right across it.
does anyone have any idea about that shop ?

Their jap collection is pretty limited tho, maybe half a shelf or so, most of the stuff they have r chinese movies, cds, etc.

You should listen to Hajime Chitose as well...she isn't pop, but is sort of like indie. She comes from Okinawa - which boast a culture diversely different to the rest of Japan and she sings in that style, but not completely traditional either. Very interesting and refreshing!

Then the jap singer i reckon has the BEST voice is Ken Hirai - he is so amazing, have u seen him doing live stuff? So good, has that natural gift like Guy Sebastian. He is more R n B and a bit pop. He ain't bad at singing english songs either. Ppl say he has a Gaijin face hehe. He was the only other jap singer other than Hikki to be asked to go on MTV unplugged.

Misia is also good, she is also R n B and a tiny bit soul/blues. She was "taught" by a black man musician...apparently...she has really cool songs and some of her songs topped the oricon.

Last but not least, how can we forget the wonderful SMAP!!! They might be a little bit old but they are Japan's best boy band...that's what I reckon anyway...all of their songs are good, except for a few. Even though they can't really sing they make it up with their personality. Shingo is the best. They have a show as well Smapxsmap. + they can cook as well! Sounds like dream husbands to me....ahahaha

I downloaded some Hajime Chitose after reading about her in Nipponia (magazine distributed by the embassy). I got bored with her.

They used to, up at the old Neutral Bay store. Not at the Galleries though, maybe later when they have a stronger customer base. After all, it costs a huge amount of Yen to get all those CDs here, not to mention the legal junk...

Utada's English album is so weird...how can you have a song 'You make me want to be a man'?! That's just strange. Her jap stuff was good..maybe she should stick to it.

I really like Moriyama Naotaro, even though on the Red and White Concert thing, he had REALLY weird hand actions...

And when I was in Japan, I went to a Porno Graffitti concert...it was so cool! They threw confetti everywhere, and it had happy new year written on it (it was December 31st)

And you have to laugh at the kitsch-ness of Morning Musume! Only the Japanese can get away with that weird borderline fetish schoolgril thing without being totally ostrasized. I like that song "love machine" I cack myself laughing...

You're right, UTADA's english track names are sometimes strange.
"The Workout" sounds nothing like her Japanese songs... though it can be addictive :p

PORNO GRAFFITTI is sooooo good!!! I love them!
Though so many ppl get this image that im a freak or something when i tell aussie ppl... obviously the name, but they are so good.
I love their songs "Ageha-cho", "Sauda-ji", "Melissa", "Hitorino yoru" etc etc...

Anyway yeah, MORNING MUSUME can only sell in Japan obviously.
They used to be massive!!! Now their popularity is going down...
I mean, Hello Project have too many groups, MORNING MUSUME, COUNTRY MUSUME, MINIMONI, PUCCHIMONI, and blah blah so on... i know theres more ~ MUSUME groups... i forgot
And if any of you ppl have checked any of their videos, I'm sure you can't stop laughing... unless you like Jap schoolgirls. Apparantly when my friend was watching their "JOSHI KASHIMASHI MONOGATARI" (their latest single) video at school, so many guys (particularly asian) surrounded him and pleaded him to give them that video... haha... can imagine...
btw, their on a train in that video singing about each member in the group...

I guess you either like them or dislike them! :)

I got my hair cut by this shop in Lidcombe, very good...

Are you a guy or a girl?

My cut was $20, and shampoo was $10, but it was worth it cos they gave me a nice head massage :)

The place is called 11th Avenue Hair Salon.. I think.. it's near Lidcombe station, run by Koreans.

Here's a map! It's in the middle of the map
