Sorry the viper is not the fastest stock production car in the 1/4mile. it was in the 1999 test, running a 12.08, but in this yrs retest it came in third behind the Saleen S7 and the Ford GT.

the 8.3 lt V10 SRT10 viper is only number 3. would u believe that. the new Ford GT (5.4lt V8) has the fastest 0-60mph (0-100kmph), but came in 2nd (11.69 122.74mph), although tested on an inferior track. the S7 (7lt V8) brushed in faster then the GT by a bit and bout half a second faster than the viper, running an 11.51, 127.38mph.

The Dodge Viper is a mad car, though i never knew that it was the fatest production car over 1/4 mile. I reckon it is still one of the best looking sports cars around, though the Ford GT is quite wonderful, i was watching a show on discovery channel about it. its crazy the amount of effort that goes into one of these super cars.

are u serious? or r u just referring to american made cars?

but i can vouch for the 427 cobra. mates dad has one (a replica, yes) and, omg, never have i felt acceleration like that, this thing had the 427, and was built properly (no jag rear-end, inboard brakes, huge calipers etc etc)...

neways, viper the quickest? if its world-wide, then i thought it would've had problems getting all that torque down?

it was an american article, but there were a number of non ameriacn cars. can u name any stock production jap car that can run these times???

the viper has always been the one to beat but it never was able to beat the Shelby 427SC Cobra in its stock form.

HAHA YOU'RE WRONG!!!!!

Haha I am a girl, yes, but I DO know exactly what I am on about when it comes to cars!!!!!
The fastest production car in the world is the Koenigsegg CCR:

Speccies as follows:

Performance

Acceleration: 0-100 km/h (0–62 mph) 3.2 seconds
Top speed: 395+ km/h (242+ mph)
Standing quartermile: 9 seconds, end speed 235 km/h (146 mph)Braking distance: 31 m (100–0 km/h)
Lateral g-force: 1.3 g
Fuel consumption: Highway travel: 13 l/100 km
Combined: 17 l/100 km

I love being right about these things :)

EDIT: sorry for any guy who is intimidated... I don't mean this to sound like I'm bragging!! I just read what i wrote

Yeah she beat me to it.

I always thought the fastest cars over the quarter mile were the Mclaren F1 GTR Street Version, and the Koenigsegg CCR superceded its acceleration capabilities with its production.

Going off memory it was something like 3.2 vs. 3.6 in terms of acceleration, which just goes to show how the Koenigsegg obliterates the Mclaren.

braad: its been getting attention for a while now, its just here that it was brought out to be seen. I think i first heard of it beginning of this year through a car show on the net.

Haha thanx Asylum!! thats very sweet.

The McLaren had varying times (tested on diff tracks in diff conditions) but its fastest time was actually a 3.7.

Mind you this is still pretty goddam quick... my car is nowhere near that fast......

.....yet!!! ;)

the criteria was for stock prodution cars. the 12sec club is actually very large. i like the MOPAR Neon (8.76) i think. it is a SRT-10 Neon, gutted, quad turbo running at 80psi, plus NOS. an amazing peice of tech.
