Hey guys,
I'm also doing Doll's House, P&P and Browning's Poetry. We've got exams at the moment and I'm a little stuck for direction..does anyone have good notes on Browning's particular poetic techniques?
In response to the queries on supplementary material, we were told to steer away from American literature as links will be hard to find due to the different cultures and societies existing in America and England. I myself have used both Vanity Fair and Madame Bovary (ABC Film version). Our teacher has strongly recommended Villette also. Apart from that we were told to look at 19th authors like the ones you guys have listed eg; Hardy, Tolstoy etc.
We were also told we can 'throw' little extra excerpts in, for example our teacher gave us an issue of the marriage liscences back then and a copy of the marriage law act- these two pieces highlight the subservient role of women and complement Browning's poetry well.
Goodluck in all your exams...
