On one hand, there needs to be more teachers, so the department can't be picky because there aren't many options. On the other hand, quality teachers are crucial to a child's success (yes, it is the student's responsibility to care for their education, but it becomes infinitely harder to see the beauty in a subject if the teacher is trash).
I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes as my physics teacher is explaining something I think of better ways to teach it. Like he barely even assigns us stuff, it's basically self learning. I sometimes have to explain things to my other math students because the textbook is trash and does not go into depth with explanations (the cambridge standard textbook).
Also, to those that want to be a teacher, please give more homework. Self study is much harder to do, and pressure (a healthy amount) is better than finding motivation. Most students (especially in lower ranked schools) have less motivation to work hard, so homework would force them into a study habit.
