I got 97 in the CSSA trial and approx the same for my raw assessment mark but I certainly wont get that for a raw HSC mark...not that my teacher marked easy but I know I lost at least prob 5 marks, many more if they are harsh. If the raw cut-off for band 6 last year was 81, I think it would be even lower this year - just because MC was quite tricky. But what do they have to gain if they mark it so hard that the cut-offs for the bands have to be so low? Apart from a feeling of superiority over terrible chem students...

To separate the best, really really good, very good, real-good, good, pretty good and quiet good students at the high-end.
