Ok, Im looking for an idea to base on the following question:

"Examine a contemporary environmental issue of economic importance (approx. 250 words).

Any good ideas? And "no", Im avoiding THE DROUGHT!!

There's some economics in Kyoto. The whole carbon credits thing. Essentially, any country that produces less greenhouse gas emissions than they have been given a quota for are given carbon credits, which they can then sell on to other countries which have gone over the quota. So it creates a market for pollution and allows market forces to control pollution levels.

That's the best example I can think of.

Thanks dudes, we were actually discussing the whole carbon-credit thing in class the other week. Im sure not many others will be thinking on the same lines as that (unless they are reading this thread ... )
