yeah i will probably be doing engineering/commerce unless the cutoff jumps above 96.35.......really wanna do biomedical engineering but i'm not sure if i can do that in a combined course.........i'll wait untill the information day to get some info

i'm a bit worried about the engineering part cos it seems all the maths freaks do it so i might struggle a bit

Most of the math 'freaks' actually don't do any engineering at all.

It's been well debated that he was lucky last year.

Also when i said math freaks, i didn't mean the people who beat you in your class, i meant people who go and do Olympiads etc.

Whatever you do, don't bother doing Electrical at USyd. If you really MUST do elec, do it somewhere else.

The mechatronics facility is taking over a large proportion of the elec faculty's facilities, as the elec faculty is going down the pisser.

So either do mechatronics and get a job at the end of it, or go elsewhere for elec.

Wraith, would u be able to help me out with this question. If i want to do biomedical engineering, when do i actually start doing biomedical specific subjects as opposed to generic mechanical engineering subjects. In other words what year do i actually start specialising, because i was told biomedical is a branch of mechanical engineering.

Also am i able to do biomedical engineering as part of a combined engineering/commerce degree.

You'll probably find that you'll have one or two biomed-specific courses in first year, compared to mech. What this means is you'll probably end up doing a couple of biology courses instead of chemistry/physics, which normal mech does.

As for the proper biomed subjects offered by the aeromech faculty, they'll probably start in second year, and you'll specialise a LOT more in 3rd. You get taught most of the basic stuff that they teach to everyone in aeromech years 1 and 2, with a few special stream courses thrown in too.

You'd probably be best off looking at: http://www.aeromech.usyd.edu.au/6cp/ and checking the biomed section in AMME.
