*major blank* What's the difference? Is one better then the other?

So embedding is where the file is actually stored in the database, and linking is where the file is linked to. right?

Embedding:
Process of importing into a file all of the data used to describe a graphic or font, as opposed to linking to the file or font.

Embedding will put the file straight into the document that you're working on, increasing the file size of the original document.

Linking will put the file into the document, but it will not be part of the document, so will therefore not increase file size considerably.

The advantage of linking something like a chart of image to a document is that if the original file is modified, then those changes will be reflected where it is linked. If the file is simply embedded, then it will still contain the old data.
