apparently 9% of the government's national expenditure is spent on education in Indonesia, and less than half of the children continue their schooling through to highschool because the schools are not supported by the government and families can't afford to pay to fees. compare this to Australia where only 6% is spent on education, and we have public schools which are funded by the government! :eek:

But why would the Carr Labor government want to spend money on education? They leave it to the Commonwealth to make up the majority and then they let them take the flack for when the schools are under funded. Carr would rather pay for his ''Arts" centres and the personal driver he uses because he doesn't have a drivers licence.
