hi i was just wondering.. what kind of language techniques is there to analyse in dune ?

... I'm not using Dune, but from what I remember- Princess Irulan's quotes throughout sort- of decodify what's going on, it being broken up into three books- Dune, Muad' Dib and The Prophet makes it seem historical- (a convention of speculative fiction), omniscient narration, italics to indicate thought- which is central to the characterisation of Paul, Jessica and Thufir Hawat- with the Kwisatz Haderach, Bene Gesserit and Mentat thing. Also talk about typical romanticisation of the hero Paul and the Atredies, in direct contrast with the grotesqueness and deplorability of the Harkonnens- particularly the Baron. There's heaps to talk about Dune :) . Don't forget all the contextual stuff like drug- exploration and growing consumerism and capitalism (monopolisation of spice trade, space travel...)
