im confused about the four components of an expert sys...
is it just the knowledge base, database of facts, inference engine and explanation mechanism??
coz theres a q in the catholic 2002 describe four components of an expert sys and the components that my friend has includes the user interface....
HELP!!!

heres the q....
a programmer creates an expert system for use as an "ask a virtual doctor" on a medical website.

The structure of an expert system

Knowledge base- consists of if then rules, heuristics

Database of facts- table of data that relates to the specific situation being analysed, used by the inference engine, relevant to current task

INference engine- forwards and backwards chaining, carries out reasoning

Explanation mechanism- method of checking how the expert system inferred its deduction, users look at this to see why the expert system came up with whatever it did. Very important as DSSs do not make decisions for ppl, they help people make a decision.
