Thanks

I don't think they get told ATARs at all.

From going in to school on the results day, I got the impression that schools only find out how many band 6's, 5's, 4's ... etc they got. Well, that's what my maths teacher told me. Someone else might want to correct this.

I think that each teacher for the corresponding subjects gets their student's results, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm, then how do they determine the dux?

At my school they seem to know the dux straight away (highest ATAR achiever).

Our dux is based on internal aggregates, so I can't answer that question

Schools only get your HSC marks. Most schools have a BBQ on the morning that the ATAR are released this is where they usually try to find out student's ATAR's. My school sent a letter out to students asking them to provide their UAI. :)

Schools get all the same marks that you do - moderated assessment mark, HSC exam mark and final HSC mark.

Schools do NOT get your ATAR and you have the right to refuse to tell them.

Nope. Usually they find out their highest ATAR by doing dux and asking the dux person what they got. OR they have one of those barbecues where they fish out ATARs etc.etc.etc.

principal: so what did you end up getting Tim?
Tim: oh, i got 99.95
principal:wow, great work Tim. I wasnt expecting that, especially since you arent ranked in the top 50 for any of your subjects
Tim: I was suprised myself. soooo, do i get dux?
principal: maybe, either you or one of the other two dozen people who got 99.95

-----

seems a bit too open to corruption

LOL, I think if the principal isn't stupid, he/she would ask for a hard copy of the certificate with ATAR on it.
