Firstly, apologises if this has been addressed already elsewhere

my question is the title, does the number of people who get in the top band, ie bnad 6 or e4 affect the scaling of the subject that year?
reason i'm asking is i did history extension and didn't do as well as i would have expected
when i looked at the performance data on the board of studies site it said this year only c. 10% got in e4 compared to 18% last year but 52% got in e3 this year compared to 40% last year
does this affect the scaling? if so, would this mean it is more likely to scale down or up?

thanks in advance

i think the better the percentile you get the better your result scales generally, unless our year is very good overall the results may scale well.

No.

The band percentages do not affect scaling at all.

However, they DO affect UAI predictions - if more people are achieving in the higher bands this year, you should make a deduction from any UAI predictions that you want to rely on.
