Yep I agree.

They pop up every so often, always at the hill that the buses climb right after you leave central station.

They always catch people........and piss people off cause they hold up the bus.

This for the 891 direct bus to and from UNSW?

Isn't just a direct stop and everyone gets off?

If I was gonna get checked and I didn't put my ticket in, I'd bolt when the back door opens :D

As if they'd catch me :D

I forgot my ticket one day and I went on the bus without it :)
It wasn't that hard to get on...
The only problem was that I had to pay $2.40 on the way back

No, the bus pulls over at the hill and the ticket inspectors get on and checks everyone and take the people off who didn't have a ticket/concession card. Then the bus keeps going.

You were lucky no one checked on the trip.

In that case, the bus company gets less money and eventually they have to put up prices :p

I think dipping a travelpass is only for the benefit of anybody who's looking cause nothing (apart from when the first trip was taken) is recorded on the surface of the card.

the green machine notes that you have validated youre trip as it keeps a record of how many ppl rode that bus that day, so if nobody dipped then it would look like the bus had barely any ppl on that day.

UNSW buses are allocated on the basis of how many students ride in the first few weeks. If it appears that not many are riding then we will have less buses ...

At least those Sydney Buses controllers that are at central in the morning know how many people are there everyday

you won't have encountered them yet

what they tend to do is wait a lil bit (a few weeks) and then pounce on the buses for a few weeks.

if i remember right, last year they started inspecting about start of april, and it went on for about 2 weeks straight

I got told off for not dipping the ticket. Had I known they only get paid per ticket dip I would have because hey, I don't want the bus network to collapse. No where on the sydneybus pamphlets did it give a reason for dipping the tickets so that made me a tad lazy dipping travelpasses (I dip traveltens etc though:p)

Anyway, I felt pretty bad about that and apologised alot to the dude.

Well if I had a travelten I would have dipped it because it gets recorded on the back. I just assumed buying a travelpass meant the govt forked out such and such amount and forwarded it to them regardless of how many trips I made *shrugs* Well now I, and dozens of others, know.
