Do internal ranks matter that much? (1 Viewer)

I've come 1/84 in my school in Business Studies and I've heard that because of that I will receive the top mark in my school for the HSC Business Studies Exam no matter what. Is this true?

For example, let's say I come like 8th. Will I still receive the highest mark in my school or will that go to the student who actually got that mark?

Sorry if my question's a bit confusing.

You'll get that mark as your "Internal Mark", and for your "External Mark" you'll get your own mark. The two marks will be averaged and that becomes your final HSC mark.

I should do an example:

Suppose we have a class of 5. The school reports the following marks:

A - 100
B - 90
C - 85
D - 63
E - 50

Externally, the students achieve these marks:

A - 96
B - 97
C - 86
D - 70
E - 55

The students reported marks would be:
stud. | int | ext | HSC
A | 97 | 96 | 97
B | 92 | 97 | 95
C | 89 | 86 | 88
D | 70 | 70 | 70
E | 55 | 55 | 55

The way the internal marks are determined is through a quadratic function, that:
Keeps the highest mark the same
Keeps the mean the same
Keeps the lowest mark the same (except in a few special cases)
