HSC

for: BABS1201, CHEM1031, PHYS1121, MATH1131

pretty reluctant to fork out 600 bucks..... i've tried looking at bookdepositry, textbookexchange, amazon but those sites have shit all - either they dont have it or its the same price as the UNSW bookshop.

Which of the above subjects would i be able to get by without the prescribed textbook?

wait until uni starts before buying the books.
you really don't need textbooks for any of those subjects

yeps.

and u should get the maple student manual too, it's $10 i think.
i disagree. the uni provides a pdf copy of the manual online so you dont really need to buy it. if you do want a hard copy (i dont understand why you would cause whenever you use maple you are on a computer and hello hello, you can just open the pdf) you can print one off yourself which would be cheaper considering a large part of the textbook contains stuff that you dont need. the key to doing well in maple is doing the sample questions you get with the course pack plain and simple

so definately get the course notes

I cant speak of physics. Babs1201, and chem1021. may be useful if you want to read more information. Math1131, only get the course notes, you can always borrow book.

I have both biology and chemistry textbooks, selling cheap. let me know if interested.

if you are going to do PHYS1221/PHYS1231 next sem it would be more worth it getting the physics textbook and cuts the value down to approx $50 per semester.
the physics textbook has great examples but get it cheaper if you can.

imo the physics textbook should be given lower priority should you wish to acquire prescribed textbooks.
