Hybridisation is the combining of sets of cells or two species that are different. E.g a Donkey and a Horse when they mate produce a mule. Or cells can be isolated in something like a petri dish and combine.
Selective breeding is the deliberate attempt to reproduce a set of characteristics. This means that it involves choosing parents with particular characteristics, who are breed together with the aim to produce offspring with the selected(desireable) characteristics. This has been done overtime with plants such as wheat, and purebreed dogs such as Labradors.
