internal - R & D department develops new technology. the impacts that this may cause, such as the retrenchment or workers, is caused by an internal influence

external - there are two forms here. technology developed by competitors may force other companies to adopt that technology in order to remain competitive. the other is if there are new compliances required by the govt that must be met, such as if new laws came into being that forced companies to change the way they conducted electronic transfers on the internet, this would be classified as an external influence. furthermore, the latter could also be classified as a legal influence.

hopefully the hypotheticals have helped!

Okay, just so Im clear:

Mobile phones got invented, so businesses phone companies had to compete and start selling them = external?

Technology improved so that the mobile phone company could make them faster, thus causing them to lay off workers = internal?

Just say some technology for example, answering machines , get invented and help the business do there work faster but werent invented by the business this = external?

Lol- I love hypotheicals.
thanks alot for your assistance

sort of. the use of mobile phones helps to improve efficiency. therefore, in order for businesses to remain competitive they must adopt mobile phones for communication purposes. but it is still an external source

that would be internal if the mobile phone company itself developed the new technology. however, if the technology was made by someone else and this company simply adopted it, then it would be external

Just say some technology for example, answering machines , get invented and help the business do there work faster but werent invented by the business this = external?
yep thats external
