The Australian CA can only be done in Aust, Singapore or Malaysia. It is generally regarded as the superior Accounting qualification in Australia because of the difficulty of the exams.
The Australian CPA is fairly popular amount most accountants because it is more of an industry focused qualification. It has traditionally attracted more uni students than CA because most of its exams are multiple choice questions and is relatively easier compared to the CA.
