My class in Ancient History have come to the conspiracy that Sparta was imagined and simply a fable.. that it did not actually exist.. any thoughts?

who the hell made that up?
its obvious that it did and still does exist however things that were part of that society may have been fabricated

lycurgus is one example and all there gods [obvious 1]

they may have existed but not as "warrior like" as they claim
and the list goes on
however they did exist:)

it was just a theory for fun as we are all getting slowly more and more fed up of our topics :p. but yes, i concur that Lycurgus was nothing more than a fabrication. And perhaps too the ideology of them being a war centred population. It is though almost believable..

Obviously the Minoans are cooler. You can train to be a warrior from the age of 6, and we can...er....trade for profit!
