i dont really like black metal tbh.

only bm i like is rotting christ (melodic bm) and some dimmu borgir (symphonic bm).

then there's blackened death metal i listen to, like behemoth and zonaria and god dethroned.

Kalmah got some awesome stuff, although you can't always count there stuff as black metal. A lot of it is Death and even Melo Death. Mayhem are really good, if you haven't checked them out already. Also, check out Hecate Enthroned and Smaug.

For more Melodic/Progressive Black Metal, check out:

Katatonia
Dimmu Borgir
Darkwoods My Betrothed
ChthoniC
Enslaved
Winds Of Plague
Diabolical Masquerade
Equilibrium
Eternal Oath
Keep Of Kalessin

For Christian Black Metal (Unblack Metal), try:
7 Horns 7 Eyes
Horde

That's a brief run down of my Black Metal collection.

Dimmu Bolgir is definitely one of the best!
also, i no it isnt death-metal, but u consider looking up Amon Amarth, which is kinda death-metal, but very viking based. just a friendly suggestion!

Some of it is Symphonic Black Metal. That's why I listed it with other Melodic Black Metal bands. Either way, they're worth checking out.

But they use blast beat vocals.. which puts them more on the "death metal" side. Using 'symphonic' elements doesnt make it bm. But meh, it doesnt really matter. Just enjoy the music I suppose.

blast beat drumming u mean :p

and barnsy, Amon Amarth arent 'kinda' death metal, they are pure melodic death metal, and probably the best melodeath band in existance, along with Insomnium.

Pretty psyched.
First one sounds awesome, the second two lack the melodic complexity Omie knows I love, but they're still pretty sweet.

Let us discuss Insomnium for a time.

and any insomnium fans will do well to check out Watch Me Fall, they got 3 (i think) insomnium members in their band, including vocalist. Not bad, but no where near as good as insomnium.
