i was hoping to do a double degree of applied economics and media production (communication), last year the cutoff was 76, i got a uai of 80.3 with the raised entry marks etc do you think i have much chance of getting in?

Yes...
Bach of Communication is raised to 80; so assuming media production is a part of the communication that got raised; you will be fine - even better - you will have 0.3 points more

Seriously, I wouldnt worry. I email the Vice Chancellor the other day regarding his article in the Canberra Times. He said that 2007 is when the over enrollments have to be fully cut out, so I think it should be ok..
