considering ba-media&cult stud (1 Viewer)

im currently in year 12 and i was considering studying ba - in media cultural studies. i was just wondering if anyone here does this course/knows something about the units included. i took a look at the uni website but it wasnt too clear about the units.

Have a look through this which outlines all the BArts majors. I believe you're looking for one of

• CUL01 - Media + Cultural Studies A
• CUL02 - Media + Cultural Studies B

Have you thought about any of the media degrees ie, the BMedia ones?

On the handbook website (cal.mq.edu), you can look through all the degrees (click 'degrees' on the right nav-bar) and can look through the units via that.

The course itself is a more general version of the Media degrees, encompassing more cultural studies and without the specialisations of the respective Media Degrees.

What are you looking to do with it? It's a good degree for leapfrogging into media transfers later on, as some transfers are available only to those in Media/Int Comm/BAMediaandCulStudies.

But yes, its not quite as structured as the other degrees, but having said that, there are cores you must choose from.

8 credit points from CUL300-CUL312 plus 6 credit points from MAS302-MAS307

8 credit points from CUL300-CUL312 plus 3 credit points from the range MAS302-MAS307 and 3 credit points from MAS308, MAS310, MAS389

I suggest you look here for CUL subjects and here for MAS subjects, and work backwards. Each one will have 'pre-requisites'. These are subjects you must've done prior to be allowed to take the course.

eg. MAS308 has:

Prerequisites: MAS209(P) or MMM203(P); admission to BMedia or BIC or BeBus or a GPA of 3.00 or higher

Which means you will need to have passed MAS209, or MMM203, or be in a B Media/B International Communication or B eBusiness, or have a GPA of 3.00 (credit average).

So work backwards and see what you need to have done for MAS209, etc.

(Just for ease of mind, all media subjects are the same for cores in first year:

MAS104, CUL100, then MAS105 in the second semester.)
