Lesson to all communicationsstudents:
I have friend who works in the communications field for a very high profile industry person.
She recieves hundreds of resumes from communications graduates. They are very impressive. Course after course is listed to show their initiative and expertise.
Unfortunately, alot of those resumes either go in the bin or don't get read at all.
My friend is the 2IC because, yes she had a average BA degree, but she KNEW the boss from previous connection.
Motto-make connections along the way. You'r more likely to get that high profile job on a connection, not your impressive resume.
Unfair maybe, but that's the way it really is.
Don't be fooled by some nice speech by a poster about if you put in hard work etc......it doesn't work like that-mostly!
Circulate! I presume it's probably the same in many other industries as well.
