question in the 2007 HSC paper. What is always a product of the combustion of fossil fuels? i immediately thought CO2 and water but they were both options?

whats the correct answer and why?

H2O.

Complete combustion will give CO2 and H2O.
Incomplete combustion gives C + CO, and no CO2, but still would give H2O.

Yeah you'd be stuck if the question asked for "Complete Combustion", but since it's just combustion it can be both

Incomplete Combustion can give CO<sub>2</sub> I think, it's a mixture of always H<sub>2</sub>O, some (or none) C, some (or none) CO, some (or none) CO<sub>2</sub>.
