Hey...I got offered BMedSci for Main, and now i've been offered it combined with Business.

What are the pro's and con's about doing a combined degree?
Does anyone else do this course...what are your thoughts?
Does it only mean you do a little of each degree?

I'm confused because i think if i include business, it'll give me more opportunity in the workplace...but i'm not sure if i could cope with all the writing in business and if i would enjoy it as i never did business @ school.

The pros are that you gain access to a whole different specialisation that you previously would not with the added versatility in job opportunities. Also combined degrees are often complementary, with one degree supplementing skills developed in the other. You also are able to recieve two qualifications in a much quicker period than is normal.

The cons are that this reduced speed comes at the expense of electives within each degree and thus can often reduce specialisations within each individual field. For example, within your degree structure, you will probably in total study less business subjects and topics than someone in the single business degree might and the same would apply to the med sci degree too. So while you definitely have two whole degrees, also recall that the time comes from somewhere - your electives in each degree.

Business opens quite a lot of opportunities
and definitely more career prospects
its a great degree to combine it with
you don't need to have done business at school so don't worry about that

what writing in business are you talking about?

business has a variety of subjects which are different so I'm sure you'll find the right business area you wanna go into

I suggest go for the combined degree

You will enjoy studying business at UTS.

Well it depends on what you really want to do..

Kami's right in the way that if you were doing a:

- Single degree e.g. B Business - You can do 2 business majors.
- Double degree e.g. B Business/B Computing - You can only do 1 business major.

On the other hand 1 more year will give you another degree- perhaps something that will give you the "edge" when it comes to employment in the future.
