im not much of a discussion person, would it be a smart idea to just let the 10% go down the drain?

or is that 10% of the assessment goin to be the easiest marks u can get in law subjects?

thnx

saying something or asking questions is better than sitting there fiddling

Just ask genuine questions. I'm sure there are things you don't know or don't quite understand. I always find such things. Just ask about them. There's no need to fake a discussion.

i dont think you will get zero even if you dont talk at all in first year..i got a pretty good CP in torts cos i participated..but i rmeember in foundations i never added a single word to any discussion for the entire session and still got a 5....guess it really depends on who ur teacher is

i think that not necessarily responding to every question the teacher asks the class will get u high marks in CP....i think if u answer their questions with a quality response, always do ur readingz, and ask intelligent and genuine questions which, in turn, helps the class as a whole to learn..... then u would get a high CP mark

*class discussing tutorial problem about contracts and promissory estoppels*

me: but you can't use the estoppel in that case; the promissory estoppel can only be used as 'a shield, but not a sword', as in the Hightrees case...

tutor: that used to be the case... but if you recall Waltons and Maher, you will see that the precedent has now changed...

me: *shut down* but... but... but THE PROMISE WAS GRATUITOUS!! yeah, the promisee didn't give any consideration!!! :chainsaw:
