Last week i noticed that a lot of people were asking to go to the toilet mid-exam. After the english exam i found out why, they were looking at notes they'd brought into the exam. Although 'resourceful' i reckon its pretty unfair for everyone else that doesn't have the advantage of checking their notes.

Does it happen at your school and what do u think about it?

Are you retarded? Report them!!! (The way I see it, if you noticed they were in the toilets, then they were in there cheating... In an exam where you're 'COMPETING WITH THEM', how can you rightfully accept them cheating you outta ranks which are rightfully yours....

Yeah it happens. Nothing you can do. It happens in the HSC haha I thought everyone knew that. But the HSC supervisers accompany you to the bathroom and I think if they hear the ruffling of paper or anything THEN they go nuts. That's why a female friend of mine wrote her english notes on her leg :p

I don't really care, best of luck to the people that do it. But they lose like 5mins writing time each time...I dunno if it's worth it. My ethics never permitted me to do it anyways.

If they want to go that far to get some extra marks, good luck to them. They'll get caught eventually. I wouldn't report them as you weren't there at the time so it may be possible that you have events mixed up. I say that with bias as someone reported me for cheating in an exam when I didn't. I think it'd be pretty easy to cheat somehow in exams, but I'm way too scared to try.

yeah I have heard people boasting about it before, I don't know if anyone has done it this time, but you can't prove it......

You'd be pretty stupid to try and do that especially in English where there is so little time to write so much. You might as well have studied completely or memorised that little sheet you brought with yourself.

that would make it really uncomfortable even to pee at my school...the toilets echo like no tomorrow, i dont want any supervisor hearing me tinkle! lol.
on topic though, i dont think anyone could check their notes in our exam hall toilets unless they also brought a torch...the lights havent worked in there for years  ... plus i reckon its just so stupid to try and do that when you're wasting writing time and if you dont know your work by the exam its a bit late to try and study, so ur probably going to fail anyway. and if you cheat then u also deserve to fail.

i didn't drink anything before doing my exam in the hope that i wouldn't waste any time sitting in the loo. I'd figured the supervisors would escort you to the toilet and stand outside so that you can't cheat. obviously that doesn't apply to all schools. look, it doesn't really matter. I don't think its possible to cheat in the HSC so they'd be pretty screwed over.. unless they studied.

i was holding it in during 2/3 of my maths exam. i didnt think it was worth the time walking down to the toilet and having to arrange someone to watch me. after a while i just gave up (well...i was about to...), put up my hand and asked if i could go. the teacher had this "wtf, just go you dont have to ask me" look on her face.

thought they would atleast be suspicious. i know if i was a teacher i wouldnt trust anyone.

It's English . Good luck to them if they think they can regain the marks they lost, with time, by cheating. At least if it was like bio, chem, or some other dot point syllabus, a) time is not really such an issue in such exams unless you're a human snail, and b) you actually know what they're looking for. English is all about using your points coherently, succinctly and synthesisely (?) rather than just a whole jumble of ideas (though of course if they can't even pull some ideas out of thin air then that's really an issue...)

In my school no one aaccompanies you. You don't even have to ask to go, you just stand up and go. It is pretty laid back but thats what pisses me off because you see people going 2-3 times and then it's a bit sus. i mean who goes to the bathroom every hour =\. It is pretty obvious when people cheat. Like this one guy wasn't writing anything in his physics exam for awhile. After he came back from bathroom (5min+) he sits down and bam! begins writing like a machine. That happend 3 times, and teachers didn't do shit.

But meh, what can you do.

Well, you would be thinking about the exam while you pee.

That is appalling. I think you should report them! Although I agree with lala2 in that, if it's English, time is the essence, so I wouldn't be worried. Maths also isn't much of a help because it's pure application and method. But if it's like, say, a science...that would be so easy...

Our school is very strict; you have to be accompanied when you visit the bathroom, and all our pencil cases have to be 100% clear - ie plastic sleeve clear. I suppose you could stuff some notes into your underpants or write notes on your leg or something, but who'd do that?

I freak out so much with long 3hr exams; refuse to drink anything during them because I'm scared I'll lose precious time. Although...I do try and sip water before because apparently hydrating your brain is good.

you guys should just not worry about cheaters or any other distractions and focus on yourselves. Do what you have to do to achieve the highest possible marks; not letting anything get in your way.

Who cares if some dude gets a few easier marks by cheating, it's not going to affect your UAI so why should you care. Those getting high UAI's are most likely not going to cheat anyway.

you cant do anything about it, even if a teacher is standing out the door in the HSC or the examinors you can have it written on your leg or on a piece of material cheating will hapen and cant be stopped. If your stuck and just sitting there cant rememeber the work just go for a whiss :) lol
But the ppl that come up with the brillant ideads of cheating and writing on there leg should get those marks they are probally those retards who get like 5/100 so who cares.
No way you could do it in english the only subject u cant do it in the rest there is heaps of time. The science course will be the best to cheat in :( got to watch out for the ppl going to the bathroom lol but u cant do anything about it just cram and do your study and achieve 110% lol

Well you see,

Just a note, you are noy completely competing against them, as the better your class/school does, the more scaling up you get.

And who cares if they cheat, woopdie-freaken-do they are the speds missing out at least 5 minutes of exam time.

Peace.
