Can I do a double major in accounting and finance? What are the options and how long does it take?
At Macquarie, any combination of "majors" can be achieved provided that you qualify for entry to the desired programs. A combined degree in Accounting and Finance is a popular choice that enables students to obtain a full professional accounting "major" plus a finance "major", all within three years full-time or six years part-time study.
Yeah, it isMonstar said:omg... i will need to transfer into a course then.. THIS BCOMM at macq is pretty much useless...
I originally wanted to double major, but alas, I've ended up in the Accy-Fin double degree, which looks a lot better than a single degree with a double major anyway.Monstar said:omg... i will need to transfer into a course then.. THIS BCOMM at macq is pretty much useless...
Asylum, for me, the advantage of the double degree was that finance gave me a stepping-stone to avoid getting stuck in auditing for the rest of my life. I now focus on the finance side of things a lot more, and I'll use the accounting degree as my fallback. On top of that, it looks a lot better to employers and gives you added bragging rights.AsyLum said:Just curious, what are the advantages of the double major?
LOL awww i cbb replying it was valentines day Thanks for the joke yesterday that was pretty random lol/redruM said:I made the longest post in redruM history and you two left me deserted in the other thread.
I kinda skipped over most of this thread - but from what I have gathered there is the Bcom - accg/app fin double and also the Bcom - accg and finance. I think the main difference (and downfall) of the latter is that it is not qualified by the ICAA or CPA Australia.
Think about WHY you want do a "double major" and if you are doing accounting - it is generally a waste of time if you don't do the professional accounting major, IMO.
Check the degrees that ICAA recognise as an approved degree.
edit: you going to the roots?

Accg and Fin is not entirely useless because u can always do the conversion thing, as you are only missing out on ACCG323 if you chooose the right subjects.
ICAA is recognising anything as an approved degree if it has accoutning subjects, or even then, if you do an approved conversion course(s) they will let u in.
