get into task manager
end the explorer process
from the run command delete the file
re-launch the explorer process.

steps:
1. control-alt-delete, you'll get into your windows task manager.
2. look for 'explorer.exe' under the image name, click 'end process'
3. file, new task (run), browse
4. look for your file through your folders, and delete
once it's gone,

5. file, new task (run), 'explorer'
:)
you'll now have your start menu/panel/bar back :)

this is a useful inf that you should install.
i would highly recommend it, as it gets rid of the annoying file permissions and 'file is in use' when trying to move, copy, or delete avi files :)

to install it, just right click on the inf and select 'install'
then you're good to go!

taken from the inf itself:
; Windows XP explorer movie fix.
;
; WARNING - Use this file at your own risk.
;
; Executing this file will remove a registry key which makes explorer load shmedia.dll.
; Simply put, this removes the annoying "permission denied" errors when trying to
; move/copy/delete AVI files.
;
; To use this fix, right-click on the file and select install. Done.

:)

not a problem.

the first step is my 'first point of call' because it's usually in use by windows explorer (not the file browser, but the windows shell/explorer itself), so if it's in use i always stop the process and do what i have to, and re-start the shell (explorer.exe) :)

glad it worked for you,
the inf has saved me many a time :)

yeah thats my first step too

but not necessarily in use by explorer...

there must be a application loaded up which has some affiliation with the file for it to be in use

but this too is a bug anyways in windows

also if u have tried this

try creating a folder

and continuously create sub-directorys once u reach the limit ull result into a error

and when u try to delete the entire folder which contains all the sub directorys, its not possible,

yeah the file paths of pubs are crazy

i had to go through about 8 or 9 layers to find what i wanted

but usually its good shit so its all worth it

well then main reason why they spaces etc in their paths is so that other groups who scan for pubs and happen to find one dont delete their stuff and use it for them selves..

not that i use to do this or anything ..

but you can also make directories which wont let people follow their way into your dir you created..

i think first you make a dir like this /<sp>/<sp>whatever
then you start making the path to the dir you want to put your crap in.. /<sp>/.lala

now when people are in the root directory of the ftp and try to get into the directory which just has a space it will just say it doesnt exsist..

pretty useless info :)

edit: its beena while so its proberly a bit wrong
