Can a teacher force you to take general courses instead of ATAR? (1 Viewer)

My teacher kept telling my absolutely could not go into ATAR. She didn’t advice me not to she straight out said no. Now I’ve found out I actually could’ve and they’re not allowed to refuse me ATAR? Is this true? If so what can I do? I can’t go into ATAR next year and I’d rather not repeat the year, I know I can take a bridging course but I feel like the school should do something about the teacher misinforming me and refusing me my education? I’m so mad and I feel like all my plans were destroyed because of her.
