What's the equations?

Since bromine water can be written as Br2 or BrOH, which one do we use?

and when it decolourises, e.g. with hexene, is it:

C6H12(l) + Br2(aq) --> C6H12Br2(aq)

What is the equation with BrOH, since I only learnt the Br2 one.

N/A
I think I remember my teacher saying the board of studies accepts either even though technically BrOH is correct
Bromine water is BrOH as shown in:
Br2 + H2O --> BrOH + HBr

So the cyclohexene reaction and bromine water reaction is
C6H10(l) + BrOH(aq) --> C6H10BrOH(aq)

And the other equation would be
Cyclohexene and bromine water:
C6H10(l) + Br2(aq) --> C6H10Br2(aq)
Hexene and bromine water:
C6H12(l) + Br2(aq) --> C6H12Br2(aq)

but as I said, it doesn't matter and you won't get marked down on it
