Future UNSW student here, and not too familiar with the general area, apart from a few odd pubs and bars.

So which are the best pubs and bars in the vicinity of UNSW to hang out?

If you're hungry, walk down Anzac Pde to all the food available. If you're on upper campus, you can walk to Randwick along Belmore Rd. There is also the Ritz cinema up there if you drive or can be bothered to walk up to the Spot. And besides that, the city is always a good option.

If you got a break <2 hours, just chill on campus or go to macca's if you want.
>2 hours and you're seriously bored, jump on a bus to the city, there really isn't anything in randwick besides a couple of fastfood outlets.

Because my negro counterparts in America tend to loiter near fast food outlets such as KFC I sought to do the same at McDonald's.

Two words: the reagent. Well, its where all the college kids/PhD students go for a drink if unibar isn't to their liking. There is good pub grub there too.

Its the place you end up after oktoberfest (the other place is Maccas... or star casino...) . Its on Anzac Pde. Other places are churchills (where the round about is) and south junoirs RSL club (yonder the round about in kingsford). (**** the city; thats a whole bus trip away... unless ofcourse your on your way home via central)

this is a trek... even from upper campus fwiw.
True. Only because you're walking uphill rather than on flat ground to anzac pde in lower campus/

The Regent is the place to go. Churchills is shit and that area of kingsford is a bit dodgy at night.

Unibar as a local wateringhole.

The Rege or The Don if you want to class it up and don't mind the walk.

EQ is close if you don't mind the bus ride. It's always dead though.

Otherwise stay on campus, or go to the city.
