atm i'm looking at internode but i don't know if there's anything better out there or if the service is reliable.

Diane: out of this thread clueless woman!

and yeah jemsta, tpg is quite awesome.
I'm on ADSL+2, 18GB limit, $50 a month

Test run on 12/04/2007 @ 05:16 PM

Mirror: TPG
Data: 9 MB
Test Time: 11.97 secs

Your line speed is 6.32 Mbps (6315 kbps).
Your download speed is 789 KB/s (0.77 MB/s).

All of the plans are "unlimited" in the sense you'll not be charged extra for exceeding your quota, your speed will be shaped.
$49.95 gets you 7gb onpeak 14gb offpeak.
$69.95 gets you 20gb onpeak 40gb offpeak.
That's on adsl1/2/cable.
That price is if you have another optus product like mobile (plan), or tv, or home phone.
If you don't, $59.95 and $79.95.

Speedwise, 512 or 1.5M(unless you can get adsl2).

Can anyone tell I used to work for optus?

Service/reliability wise, I used to be on the $49.95 myself when I still lived in sydney. Quite stable.

OK, if you use Outlook or Thunderbird, you can set up a Gmail account to go through that if you wish, hence eliminating the worry of changing ISPs and emails.

I'm on Internode 1.5mbps @ 20GB/month for 60 or 70 a month. Can't remember which.

Some ISP's will let you keep the email for $5/month or something.... just depends on whether yours offers it.

so... what constitutes as 'onpeak' and 'offpeak' and would it vary between ISPs?

5 bucks/mth..thats hardly worth it though. Its just that i registered so many things on my isp email account that its gonna be a pain if i lost it. Anyway ive learnt my lesson now :)

For Optus, Peak is 12pm (midday) to 12am (midnight) so afternoon
Offpeak is Midnight (12am) to midday (12pm) so early morning.

Not sure about other ISPs.
