Anyone have any decent ideas for related material for belonging?
Preferably something that doesn't take forever to read...
:) :)

If you dont want something that takes forever to read, try googling poems/paintings etc. I did claude Mckay's poem Outcast and a film

Ah, thankyou. That should be helpful.

What are your thoughts on using Jodi Picoult's "Nineteen Minutes"?

Morton Rhue's novel 'The Wave' Is pretty good, it isn't very long so it doesn't take long to read.
Also, Russel Drysdale's painting 'Boy Running'

these were my 2 ORT's for belonging this year.

Through out the year i constantly changed my related texts simply because they weren't getting the marks i wanted... but non the less they were still relevant texts..Anyway

My prescribed text was - Shakespeares As you like it
My related texts i used or you could use: Donnie Darko (film), Fight club (novel and a film- film is better for technique etc), Into the wild (film), Christina Anu - my island home (song), The lady of shalott - Alfred Lord Tennyson (poem). also a short film - man kind is no island..

Look up tropfest past short films alot of those can show belonging:)

you should have 2 solid related texts.. anyone of these texts are good for belonging... but then again it depends on your prescribed text.. take it to your teacher and see if they can fit... probably could.. :)

Over done.. and to simplistic - sorry.. you need something which allows you to make an analysis of the text.. not just retell the belonging aspects of the book.. make sure you can link it back to prescribed text..
